Fergie Jenkins complained of tenderness in the bicep of his pitching arm and left the mound after 6 2/3 innings, but the Cubs' ace righthander received credit for an 8-5 victory over the Expos. Jim Hickman drove in two runs for the Cubs with a homer in the first inning and added an RBI with a single in the third. Jenkins homered in the fifth.

After Jenkins left the mound with a 4-2 lead, Billy Williams homered with a man on base in the Cubs' half of the seventh. The Expos erupted for three runs against Steve Hamilton in the eighth before Jack Aker came in to save the game. [The Sporting News]
