Three unearned runs, scored with the benefit of only one hit, enabled the Rangers to defeat the Twins, 3-2. The Rangers loaded the bases in the third inning when Rich Reese dropped a fly by Elliott Maddox and Vic Harris and Dave Nelson walked. Toby Harrah drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly. Harris then scored on the front end of a double steal with Nelson.

Nelson beat out an infield hit in the eighth, stole second, continued to third on a throwing error by Phil Roof and scored the deciding run on a sacrifice fly by Dick Billings. [The Sporting News]
