Clyde Wright pitched a five-hitter and also sent the Angels ahead with a single in the seventh inning to beat the Twins, 3-1. The Twins' run in the fifth counted without the benefit of a hit on a walk to Steve Brye, an infield out and a wild throw by Ken McMullen on a grounder by Jim Perry. Doubles by Sandy Alomar and Vada Pinson tied the score in the sixth.

McMullen beat out an infield hit in the seventh, John Stephenson singled and Wright then drove McMullen home with a single to break the tie. A squeeze bunt by Alomar added an extra run. [The Sporting News]
