The Royals worked their triple play in the third inning after Dick Bosman doubled and Elliott Maddox walked. Toby Harrah bunted to Ed Kirkpatrick, who threw to Paul Schaal at third, forcing Bosman. Schaal's peg across the diamond to Cookie Rojas, covering first, was in time to retire Harrah.
