The Indians overcame the batting of Bob Oliver and defeated the Angels, 4-3, in 10 innings. Oliver drove in all of the Angels' runs with two doubles and a single. After his single sent the Angels ahead, 3-2, in the top half of the 10th, the Indians opened a rally in their half with a single by Buddy Bell, who had homered earlier in the game. Jack Brohamer bunted and both runners were safe on a late throw to second. Ray Fosse singled to load the bases. Bell scored the tying run on a wild pitch by Steve Barber. After an intentional pass to Alex Johnson, the next two batters went out, but Frank Duffy then singled to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News] |
