Picked off first, Dick Allen reached second successfully with a stolen base to set up the run that enabled the White Sox to defeat the Brewers, 2-1. Mike Andrews opened the fourth inning with a homer and Allen walked. When Allen broke too soon off first with the idea of stealing second, Bill Parsons threw to George Scott. Allen kept going and not only beat Scott's throw to second but continued to third when the ball got through Rick Auerbach. Rick Reichardt then singled to score Allen. The Brewers got their run on doubles by Joe Lahoud and Mike Ferraro in the fifth. [The Sporting News] |
