Blue Moon Odom allowed only four hits and pitched the Athletics to an 8-0 victory over the Indians. Sal Bando and Bert Campaneris each belted a two-run homer off Gaylord Perry, who failed for the fourth time in a bid for his 19th victory.

After Perry departed, Mike Hegan homered off Ray Lamb in the seventh inning, Dave Duncan doubled and Campaneris singled for his third RBI of the game. Tim Cullen doubled with the bases loaded for the A's final two runs off Steve Mingori in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
