. . . where the 1970s live forever!
The Tigers enjoyed their best game at bat this season, piling up 16 hits to defeat the Angels, 10-1. Six of the Tigers' runs crossed the plate in the first inning. Singles by Tony Taylor and Aurelio Rodriguez, around a passed ball, produced the first tally. Al Kaline followed with a two-run homer.

A single by Willie Horton, walk to Mickey Stanley and error by Ken McMullen on a grounder by Ike Brown loaded the bases as the inning kept going. Ed Brinkman singled, driving in two runs to kayo Rudy May. After Rickey Clark relieved, Tom Timmerman missed an attempted squeeze bunt and Brown was out at the plate. Timmerman then singled to drive in the first run of his major league career. [The Sporting News]
