Alex Johnson drove in three runs with a double and homer and Graig Nettles added two more with a homer to account for the Indians' scoring in a 5-4 victory over the Athletics, who were stopped on their four-game winning streak. The victory was the Indians' first of the season over the A's after seven straight losses. Vida Blue, who started for the A's, gave up two runs on a walk, single by Chris Chambliss and double by Johnson in the first inning before leaving the game because of a recurrence of groin trouble. After the A's took a 3-2 lead, Johnson tied the score with his homer off Gary Waslewski in the fourth. Roy Foster walked and Nettles then homered for the winning blow. [The Sporting News] |
