Coming from behind, the Cardinals scored five runs in the last two innings to defeat the Giants, 7-4. John Cumberland, formerly with the Giants, gained his first victory in a Cardinal uniform.

The Redbirds erased the Giants' 3-2 lead with three runs in the eighth on doubles by Bernie Carbo and Joe Torre, a pass to Ted Simmons and another double by Ed Crosby. Two extra tallies in the ninth were unearned on throwing errors by Jerry Johnson and Willie McCovey. [The Sporting News]
