Syd O'Brien and Johnny Briggs rapped run-scoring singles to enable the Brewers to defeat the Royals, 2-1. In the third inning, Ellie Rodriguez singled and was forced by Bob Heise. Rick Auerbach singled Heise to third and O'Brien sent him home with his hit.

Auerbach was safe on an error in the eighth, stole second and crossed the plate on Briggs' single. John Mayberry doubled and Cookie Rojas singled for the Royals' run in the home half of the eighth. [The Sporting News]
