. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Athletics moved back into first place in the West division, breaking a tie with the idle White Sox, by defeating the Tigers, 5-1. The A's jumped on Woodie Fryman for three runs in the first inning and handed the lefthander his first A. L. loss.

Bert Campaneris doubled, stole third and scored on a single by Joe Rudi. Sal Bando also singled and Mike Epstein then drove both runners home with a double. [The Sporting News]
