Nolan Ryan, who had gone without a victory since July 27, ended his personal four-game losing streak by pitching the Angels past the Orioles, 2-0. The shutout was Ryan's seventh of the season. Bob Oliver had a hand in both runs, lofting a sacrifice fly after a triple by Sandy Alomar in the third inning and then hitting a double and scoring on a two-bagger by Ken McMullen in the seventh.
