Mike Marshall, the Expos' relief ace, not only gained his 14th victory but also provided his own winning run with a double in the ninth inning that beat the Astros, 4-3. Ron Fairly batted in two runs with a single and homer to help the Expos take a 3-1 lead before Marshall replaced Bill Stoneman in the seventh.

Cesar Cedeno walked and Jim Wynn tied the score with a homer. In the ninth, John Boccabella doubled and, after a walk to Fairly, Marshall came through with the first extra-base hit of his career with the Expos. [The Sporting News]
