The Brewers rallied for two runs in the ninth inning and defeated the White Sox, 4-3. With Pat Kelly hitting a homer, the White Sox held a 3-1 lead until the sixth when Wilbur Wood was lifted after the Brewers scored their second run.

Terry Forster was on the mound in the ninth when Ellie Rodriguez singled, pinch-runner Brock Davis moved up on a sacrifice and John Felske singled. Forster then retired Rick Auerbach, but when Joe Azcue was announced as the pinch-hitter for Jerry Bell, the White Sox brought Cy Acosta in from the bullpen. Johnny Briggs then batted for Azcue and walked. Dave May beat out an infield hit to load the bases and George Scott singled to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
