Wrecking the Pirates' strategy, Chris Cannizzaro batted in two runs with a two-out double in the eighth inning to send the Dodgers on their way to a 7-4 victory. Bill Buckner hit a two-run homer to put the Dodgers ahead in the seventh, 4-3, but the Pirates tied the score in their half on singles by Manny Sanguillen and Richie Hebner around a sacrifice.

Wes Parker opened the Dodgers' eighth with a double and, after two groundouts, Nelson Briles passed Bill Russell intentionally to get at Cannizzaro, who made the Pirates walk the plank by rapping his double. [The Sporting News]
