. . . where the 1970s live forever!
A pinch-homer by Angel Mangual with two men on base climaxed a rally by the Athletics, who scored all their runs in the seventh inning to defeat the Indians, 5-4. Matty Alou, playing his first game in an Oakland uniform since being acquired from the Cardinals, singled to ignite the outburst.

Reggie Jackson walked and, after an infield out, Sal Bando was handed an intentional pass. Ted Kubiak sent one run home with a sacrifice fly and Gene Tenace batted in another with a single before Mike Hegan was announced as a pinch-hitter. When the Indians brought in Mike Kilkenny to replace Steve Dunning, Mangual took Hegan's place at the plate and smashed his homer. Roy Foster and Graig Nettles accounted for the Indians' scoring with two-run homers. [The Sporting News]
