Although held to four hits by Bill Singer, the Cubs were able to defeat the Dodgers, 2-1, when Billy Williams batted in two runs with a double in the sixth inning. Milt Pappas, pitching his fifth straight victory, gave up the Dodgers' run on a homer by Willie Davis in the third. With one out in the Cubs' sixth, Don Kessinger was safe on an error by Bill Russell, Jose Cardenal singled and both then crossed the plate on Williams' double. [The Sporting News]
