Ending a string of 14 hitless trips to the plate, Johnny Bench drove in a run with a single in the 12th inning to give the Reds a 1-0 victory over the Expos. A single by Cesar Geronimo, double by Pete Rose and pass to Joe Morgan loaded the bases for Bench's hit with two out.
