Spoiling the Orioles' strategy, Ken Berry drove in a run with a single in the 10th inning to give the Angels a 1-0 victory behind the five-hit pitching of Andy Messersmith. Jeff Torborg opened the 10th by beating out a bunt and advanced on a passed ball. After Messersmith popped up, Eddie Watt walked Sandy Alomar, but the move backfired when Berry rapped his winning hit to score pinch-runner Curt Motton. [The Sporting News]
