Carmen Fanzone and Ron Santo hit homers to escort Fergie Jenkins to his 19th victory of the season as the Cubs won the first game of a doubleheader, 2-0, before losing to the Mets in the second game, 7-2. The shutout was Jenkins' fifth of the season and the complete game was his 22nd. Gary Gentry, who started the nightcap for Mets, gained his first victory since July 22.
