. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The hitting of Bobby Murcer, who rapped a double, homer and single, led the Yankees to a 5-2 victory in the second game of a doubleheader after the Orioles rallied behind the relief pitching of Roric Harrison to win the first game, 4-3. The Yankees took a 3-0 lead against Doyle Alexander in the opener before Harrison arrived to pitch scoreless ball the rest of the way. Andy Etchebarren smashed a three-run homer to tie the score in the seventh and the Orioles followed with the deciding marker in the eighth on a single by Don Baylor, wild pitch by Sparky Lyle and double by Paul Blair.

Lyle came back to gain his 30th save of the season in the nightcap. Murcer doubled and scored in the first inning and homered in the third. With the score tied, 2-2, Horace Clarke singled in the eighth, Bernie Allen was safe on an error and Murcer singled to break the deadlock. After the next two batters struck out, singles by Felipe Alou and John Ellis added two more runs. [The Sporting News]
