While Steve Blass and Bruce Kison each pitched a five-hitter, the Pirates turned their big bats loose to defeat the Phillies in a doubleheader, 10-0 and 5-1. Al Oliver smashed a pair of three-run homers to pace the Bucs' support of Blass in the opener.

Kison helped himself with a two-run double in the nightcap and Willie Stargell batted in two runs with a triple and homer. The Phillies counted their lone run of the day in the first inning on a single by Larry Bowa and double by Tommy Hutton. [The Sporting News]
