Homers by Jim Ray Hart and Garry Maddox were the potent blows as the Giants scored six runs in the first two innings to defeat the Padres, 6-0, behind the pitching of Ron Bryant. Hart hit his homer in the first following a single by Maddox and pass to Ken Henderson.

In the second, Damaso Blanco singled, moved up on a sacrifice and scored when Gary Matthews singled for his first major league hit. Maddox then homered to add the Giants' final two runs. [The Sporting News]
