Fergie Jenkins reached the 20-victory mark for the sixth straight season when the Cubs defeated the Phillies, 4-3. The Phillies scored on a homer by Willie Montanez in the second inning and took a 3-1 lead in the fourth, but Don Kessinger singled and Billy Williams homered to tie the score in the sixth. The Cubs then gave Jenkins his victory when Kessinger and Jose Cardenal hit doubles for the winning run in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
