. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Breaking up a three-hit duel between Jim Willoughby and Don Gullett, Dave Kingman smashed a homer with a man on base in the ninth inning to give the Giants a 2-1 victory over the Reds. Jim Ray Hart walked and Garry Maddox came in to run for him before Kingman connected. The Reds scored their run in the seventh on a safe bunt by Bobby Tolan, single by Johnny Bench and sacrifice fly by Tony Perez. [The Sporting News]
