After scoring twice in the first inning, the Rangers used a double steal in the second to set up what proved to be the deciding run in a 3-2 victory over the Athletics. The Rangers loaded the bases in the first when Dave Nelson and Larry Biittner walked and Dick Billings singled. Ted Ford hit a sacrifice fly for the first run and Bill Fahey singled to drive in the second tally. Nelson doubled in the second and Joe Lovitto was hit by a pitch.
