. . . where the 1970s live forever!
A sacrifice fly that produced the winning run, yet wound up in a double play, marked the Indians' 6-5 victory over the Red Sox in a game that also featured six homers. The Red Sox scored all their runs on circuit clouts by Carl Yastrzemski, Reggie Smith, Carlton Fisk and Bill Lee, two runs scoring on Yaz' blow. The Indians had round-trippers by Jack Brohamer and Tommy McCraw.

The score was tied, 5-5, when Buddy Bell singled for the Indians in the sixth and Jack Heidemann was hit by a pitch. After a sacrifice by Jerry Moses, Kurt Bevacqua drew an intentional pass to load the bases. Roy Foster then lifted a fly to left fielder Ben Oglivie, who dropped the ball. Foster was given credit for a sacrifice fly as Bell scored. Oglivie recovered the ball quickly and threw to third base to force Heidemann. Foster was also called out for running past Bevacqua on the baseline between first and second to retire the side. [The Sporting News]
