After driving in a run with a triple in the third inning, Jim Wynn homered in the ninth to enable the Astros to emerge with a 4-3 win over the Dodgers. Don Wilson, who started for the Astros, had a 3-0 lead before being lifted in the seventh when the Dodgers scored twice on consecutive singles by Steve Yeager, Jim Lefebvre, Billy Grabarkewitz and Manny Mota.

Jerry Reuss relieved and struck out Willie Davis to end the inning. After Wynn's homer in the eighth, the Dodgers scored once in their half and had two men on base with two out, but Cesar Cedeno saved the game by making a spectacular, diving catch of a line drive by Davis. [The Sporting News]
