Don Gullett and Pedro Borbon, who pitched for the Reds, whiffed 13 between them. Although the victory was only the ninth of the season for Norman, the shutout was his sixth. Cito Gaston provided the run that the southpaw needed by smashing a homer off Gullett in the fourth inning.
