Vida Blue pitched a two-hitter and gained his first victory since August 13 when the Athletics defeated the Rangers, 4-0. Mike Epstein and Reggie Jackson provided home run punch. Epstein also doubled and scored the A's first run on a single by Don Mincher in the second inning. After Epstein homered in the fourth, Sal Bando walked and counted on a double by Ted Kubiak.
