Bill Parsons pitched a six-hitter for his fourth straight victory and George Scott, Johnny Briggs and Ollie Brown each drove in two runs as the Brewers defeated the Yankees, 7-2. Brown accounted for his RBIs with a bases-loaded single in the first inning. Scott and Briggs hit consecutive homers in the fourth. Scott knocked in another run with a triple in the sixth and scored himself on a sacrifice fly by Briggs.

Bobby Murcer and Ron Blomberg homered for the fourth-place Yankees, who slipped 2½ games behind the division-leading Red Sox. [The Sporting News]
