Rudy May, a winner of five complete games in a row, started for the Angels and walked the first three batters to set the stage for the jackpot wallop by John Mayberry. After issuing another pass, May yielded to Lloyd Allen, who gave up walks to Carl Taylor and Freddie Patek to load the bases.
