While Nolan Ryan pitched a four-hitter, Bob Oliver and Leroy Stanton led the Angels' 12-hit attack to defeat the Royals, 4-2. Oliver homered in the first inning. After Ryan walked three batters and Richie Scheinblum singled for the Royals' runs in the third, the Angels tied the score with a single by Stanton and triple by John Stephenson in the fourth.

Oliver tripled and Stanton doubled to break the tie in the sixth. Stanton was caught in a rundown on a grounder by Billy Parker, but Parker advanced to second on the play and scored the final run on a single by Leo Cardenas. [The Sporting News]
