The Phillies scored on an error by Bud Harrelson in the 11th inning to defeat the Mets, 5-4. Roger Freed walked and stopped at second on a single by Tommy Hutton. After Oscar Gamble came in to run for Freed, Harrelson let a grounder by Bill Robinson go through his legs, allowing Gamble to score.

Robinson hit a two-run homer in the second inning, tripled for another RBI in the seventh and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bob Boone. Jim Beauchamp and Bill Sudakis homered for the Mets' runs, Sudakis' smash coming with two men on base in the fourth inning. [The Sporting News]
