An unearned run in the 10th inning enabled the Cardinals to defeat the Cubs, 2-1. Lou Brock opened with a single off Jack Aker, who had taken over in relief of Bill Hands. Ted Sizemore bunted and when Aker's throw to second got away from Don Kessinger, Brock advanced to third. Jose Cruz then singled to drive in the winning run.
