Steve Busby, Royals' rookie righthander from Omaha (American Association), pitched a five-hitter and gained his third straight victory by defeating the White Sox, 2-1. Catcher Ed Kirkpatrick provided Busby's batting support, scoring both Royal runs. Kirkpatrick doubled and crossed the plate on a single by Bobby Floyd in the second inning before hitting a homer in the fourth. Carlos May homered for the White Sox run in the ninth.
