Allowing only two singles, Tom Seaver became a 20-game winner for the second straight year and the third time in his six-year career as the Mets edged the Pirates, 1-0. Nelson Briles, who gave up five hits, was the loser in his duel with Seaver when the Mets scored in the ninth inning on a double by Wayne Garrett, sacrifice by Ken Boswell and single by Tommie Agee.
