Gary Matthews and Dave Rader batted in two runs apiece to lead the Giants to a 6-2 victory over the Braves. Matthews singled for one of the Giants' two tallies in the first inning and hit homer in the fourth.

Rader added his RBIs with a single in the fifth. Sam McDowell, who was the winner, yielded only two hits until the eighth when the Braves scored on a single by Paul Casanova, double by Ralph Garr and single by Larvell Blanks. [The Sporting News]
