. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After Gaylord Perry won the opening game, 2-1, in 11 innings, for his 24th victory, the Indians completed the sweep of a doubleheader by defeating the Yankees in the nightcap, 4-3. Perry allowed only four hits and gained his edge on a double by Buddy Bell, infield out by Jack Brohamer and sacrifice fly by Chris Chambliss.

In the second game, the Indians came from behind to win with two unearned runs on a pair of wild throws by Yankee catcher John Ellis in the sixth inning. [The Sporting News]
