. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bill Stoneman pitched the second no-hitter of his major league career to give the Expos a 7-0 victory in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader, but the Mets came back to win the nightcap, 2-1. Stoneman, whose previous gem was registered against the Phillies by an identical 7-0 score April 17, 1969, walked seven and allowed another batter to reach base on an error. The Expos backed their righthander with a homer by Ron Fairly, bases-loaded triple by Boots Day and two run-scoring singles by Ken Singleton.

In the second game, the Mets scored the winning run in the ninth inning on a triple by Ed Kranepool and single by Dave Schneck. [The Sporting News]
