Terry Forster, who was not only the leading reliever for the White Sox, but also one of the best hitting pitchers in the major leagues this season, delivered a run-scoring pinch-single in the ninth inning to help beat the Twins, 5-4. With two away, Tony Muser tripled and Ed Herrmann was handed an intentional pass.

Forster then batted for Hank Allen and singled for his 10th hit in 19 times at bat to drive in Muser, tying the score at 4-4. Herrmann took third on the play. Forster, showing his baserunning ability, stole second and when the throw by Twins' catcher Glenn Borgmann was off target, Herrmann scored the winning run on the error. [The Sporting News]
