. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Carl Yastrzemski smashed his second homer in two days, as well as three other hits, and Rico Petrocelli connected for the circuit with two men on base to power the Red Sox to a 10-5 victory over the Yankees. Yastrzemski hit his homer in the third inning. Petrocelli iced the decision with a smash in the eighth. Orlando Cepeda, Red Sox' designated hitter, drove in two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies.

Gene Michael and Graig Nettles homered for the Yankees, Nettles' blow coming with a man on base in the ninth when the Yankees forced the exit of Marty Pattin. Bob Veale retired the last batter to get credit for the save. [The Sporting News]
