After the Royals took the lead with three homers, Cookie Rojas bunted home what proved to be the deciding run in the eighth inning of a 6-5 victory over the Angels. Hal McRae and Lou Piniella hit consecutive homers in the fourth and Amos Otis added the Royals' other round-tripper in the fifth.

With one out in the eighth, Jerry May was hit by a pitch and Gail Hopkins walked. After the runners advanced on an infield out by Freddie Patek, Rojas scored May with a surprise bunt for his third hit of the game. [The Sporting News]
