Completing a sweep of the three-game series, the Royals piled up 14 hits and defeated the White Sox, 12-5. The Royals, scoring 12 runs in a game for the fourth time this season, started their spree with homers by Freddie Patek and Hal McRae in the first inning, McRae's blow coming with a man on base. Ed Kirkpatrick hit a three-run homer in the third and John Mayberry added a solo swat to the attack in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
