Piling up 21 hits, the Giants trounced the Braves, 15-2, in the first game of a twi-night doubleheader before adding a 2-0 victory in the second game on only six hits. Chris Speier drove in four runs with two doubles and two singles in the Giants' romp. Ed Goodson hit four singles, Tito Fuentes contributed a homer and double and Dave Rader chipped in with a double and single. Tom Bradley, who was hit on the right ankle by a line drive in the third inning, continued on the mound through the fifth before leaving the game with credit for the victory.

In the nightcap, Ron Bryant and Randy Moffitt combined to pitch the shutout. Bryant was removed after walking two batters with two out in the eighth inning. A single by Ed Goodson, double by Dave Kingman and single by Garry Maddox produced the Giants' initial run in the second and Bobby Bonds homered for their other tally in the third.
