Helped by Charlie Spikes, who drove in two runs, Gaylord Perry pitched the Indians to a 3-2 victory over the Red Sox. Spikes plated a run with a single in the first inning and homered in the sixth. After Spikes' blast, the Indians put together singles by George Hendrick, Dave Duncan and Jack Brohamer for what proved to be their winning run. Orlando Cepeda and Ben Oglivie homered to produce tallies for the Red Sox.
