Ken Forsch pitched the Astros to a 6-2 victory with last-out help from Jim Crawford, who ended a Padres' threat in the ninth inning. Forsch walked Derrel Thomas with the bases loaded before Crawford took over and struck out Leron Lee. The Astros started their scoring with two runs on a walk to Doug Rader, triple by Johnny Edwards and squeeze bunt by Roger Metzger in the second.
