Harry Parker and Tug McGraw combined on a three-hitter as the Mets shut out the Expos, 5-0. Parker gave way to McGraw after pulling a muscle on the basepaths in the seventh inning. Parker and Balor Moore, who started for the Expos, engaged in a scoreless duel until the sixth when the Mets broke away with three runs.

Bud Harrelson and Willie Mays walked around a sacrifice. After Rusty Staub forced Mays, George Theodore, John Milner and Jim Fregosi delivered run-producing singles. Milner iced the game with a homer after a pass to Staub in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
