While Rudy May pitched a shutout on a five-hitter, the Angels handed Blue Moon Odom his fourth straight setback by defeating the Athletics, 4-0. Odom allowed six hits. Odom walked Rudy Meoli in the third inning and seemed in no danger when the next two batters grounded into forceouts, but the Angels then struck for three runs.

Bobby Valentine singled and Vada Pinson doubled for the first tally and Frank Robinson followed with a two-run single. Billy Grabarkewitz tripled and Art Kusnyer hit a sacrifice fly for the final marker in the fourth. [The Sporting News]
